What inspired you to launch your own website?
Frustration of using search engines to find all the possible suppliers and then comparing prices and location. Much easy to do if you can see all the prices or locations in one go.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I launched this website on 24 Dec 06 - I know christmas eve what was I doing.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Seemed the most logical name for a website on ski rental in Keystone, although it is a bit long to type in.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
There are other similar site but no one offers this level of detail nor compare information on one screen
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
I work in the ski industry so this is just a way to earn a few extra bucks and practice seo and ppc tactics
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
First year break even but I hope to do better this year
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
Make site look better - designed myself so not the best but it works
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
No limit as once done the website does all the work
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
As it is very seasonal business carrying costs until clients eventually ski and get the commission money which can be months apart
What has been your biggest challenge?
I guess learning more about seo and PPC campaigns
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Pay per click advertising as I was too late to get much out of seo.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
Little harder than expected to do but a great learning experience
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
Started on 24 Dec 06 and I guess apart from some simple changes potential is endless
